Boston Mayor Wants the Red Sox to Win the 'World Series Cup'

Boston mayor Tom Menino made another sports-related goof today when he implored the Red Sox to win the “World Series Cup” on Tuesday.
Menino asks fans to be responsible as the Red Sox try to bring back the "World Series cup."

Well-played Mr. Mayor, well-played. At least his heart was in the right place and he came oh-so-close to getting the name of a competition that began in 1903 correct. (That first World Series winner? The Boston Americans.)
Perhaps he was hanging out with John Kerry discussing the immortal Boston player, “Manny Ortiz.”
Is there such a thing as the “World Series Cup”? The first google result for the term brings up a Wikipedia page for an Australian cricket series. Go figure. [H/T NESN]
