Elias: Last night was the 4th World Series game that ended on an error, 1st since Buckner in 1986.

The Red Sox lost Game 3 of the World Series on a chaos-inducing obstruction call, one we won’t hear the end of any time soon, especially if Boston ends up losing the series.
As a result, poor Will Middlebrooks is going to be forced to answer questions about Bill Buckner and the infamous play from the 1986 World Series, the last time Boston lost a World Series game that ended on an error. Yes, it’s already starting.
Spirited questions like “how does it feel to join Buckner in Boston infamy” will begin just as soon as he arrives to the ballpark.
I’m not sure a confusing obstruction call can be compared to letting a routine ball dribble through your legs when you’re one win away from taking the World Series, but that doesn’t matter. It appears we’re already here. Joy.
