The World Series is over, the Red Sox are champions for the third time in 10 years, and Boston is one gigantic party. St. Louis is somber. Tim McCarver is gone. David Ortiz is an MVP, questions be damned.

So, how did preseason predictions pan out? For the 43 ESPN baseball experts, not so well. Here are their predictions, from March.

* Number of experts who had the Red Sox winning the World Series? Zero. (Four had Boston in the postseason.)

* Number of experts who had the Red Sox in the World Series? Zero.

* Number of experts who had the Cardinals in the World Series? Zero.

This result was the polar opposite of 2011 … when 45 of 45 ESPN pundits had the Red Sox in the postseason. Boston famously collapsed and missed the playoffs.
