Steven Caulker: Header Gives Cardiff City Win Over Rival Swansea City
By Mike Cardillo
Steve Caulker etched himself into Welsh soccer history, scoring the winning goal in the first South Wales Derby contested in the Premier League era. Coincidentally Caulker spent last season at Swansea City.
Swansea fans will probably spend the next week, or month thinking of nasty words to rhyme with Caulker when the teams meet again later this season.
Since I’m not Welsh — or ever been to Wales — it would be impossible to write how massive this goal by Caulker is throughout the country. All I know is the two teams fans’ detest each other, so it’s fairly significant.
Swansea City finished with 10 men after keeper Michel Vorm was sent out in stoppage time. The Swans had used all three subs, so field player Angel Rangel finished in net — a cherry on top for Cardiff.
