This is a new one. Late in overtime of Tuesday’s Sabres -Sharks game, San Jose’s Tommy Wingels poked the puck past Buffalo goalie Ryan Miller. As it happened, no one noticed. Well, no one but Tyler Myers who kicked the puck out of the goal. With the referee’s view obstructed by Myers, he waved off the goal that he didn’t see. The NHL’s replay system didn’t catch it and the Sabres went on to win in a shootout. It will be interesting to see what the league does about the call. If the goal had counted, the Sharks would be tied for first in the Pacific. With the loss, they are a point behind the Anaheim Ducks.
