Trey Quinn, a wide receiver at Barbe High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed Dorial Green-Beckham’s high school receiving yards record of 6,356 yards on Friday night. Quinn caught a 26-yard pass from quarterback Kennon Fontenot that gave him 6,376 yards. After the play the game was halted and Quinn was surrounded by his teammates, presented with the ball, and posed for pictures with his parents.
“It’s emotional. I’m getting chills right now talking about it,” Quinn said. “I never thought I would get that emotional in a game. To see the people I’ve grown up with come hug me after that, it’s unreal.”
Quinn, who is committed to LSU, finished the night with 216 receiving yards – 6,396 career yards – and 3 touchdowns, he also rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown. Barbe advanced to the second round of the Louisiana state playoffs so Quinn will have another chance to extend his lead.
