The Soon-To-Be Charlotte Hornets Plan To Bring Back Purple And Teal Colors Next Season

As soon as the Bobcats announced that they would be bringing the Hornets name back to Charlotte next season, it was really only a matter of when and not if we would learn that the team also plans to deploy the color scheme that elicits nostalgia for wonderful things such as NBA Jam and Starter jackets. And that will indeed be the case now, reports Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer.

"“We thought it was very important for us to listen to our fans and the overall community. There seemed to be an overwhelming desire to pay homage to the legacy of the Hornets, from their time here before,” Bobcats President Fred Whitfield said. “We listened to our fans, and that’s what led us in this direction.” Pete Guelli, the Bobcats’ chief marketing officer, said polling of the Charlotte market indicated about 80percent support for a name change to Hornets, and support for bringing back teal-and-purple ran nearly as high."

As long as the franchise is happily bringing back iconic institutions, it would be pretty great if they actually started setting the wheels in motion for that (admittedly highly-unrealistic) one-game Michael Jordan comeback that Jalen Rose predicted back in October.
