I don’t know many people who pay attention to what the majority of NFL analysts say, but clearly, the players are watching intently. Take Donte Whitner of the 49ers. Apparently, one of the Hasselbeck brothers was on ESPN at some point Monday popping off about Whitner’s lack of speed and the 49ers safety – the guy who tried to change his name to Donte Hitner – took to twitter to defend himself.

Whitner is in his 8th year in the league, so it’s possible he’s lost some of the 4.4 speed he came out of Ohio State with. But probably not much. Whitner is in the midst of one of his best seasons as a pro.
