Aaron Ramsey: Scores vs. Former Club, Cardiff City, Doesn't Celebrate

Aaron Ramsey can’t stop scoring for Arsenal. The Welsh midfielder scored his 12th goal in all competitions today vs. Cardiff City — his boyhood club via very nice flicked header from inside the box. Ramsey was applauded on social media for refraining from celebrating against the Blue Birds Dragons(?) and cheered by the Cardiff fans inside the stadium for his restraint.

It’s a little hard to believe this celebrate/non-celebration against your former clubs is still a topic for soccer fans. We’ve had professionalism in sports since the late 1800s. Guys are going to play — and score — against their former teams. Ramsey is an Arsenal player and wants to help Arsenal win.

It’s really not that big a deal, unless you take it to the extremes of Emmanuel Adebayor a few seasons back.

There has to be a happy medium in the mix.

In any event, great pass by Mesut Özil, naturally, to set the goal up. Arsenal would take a temporary seven-point lead in the Premier League table if the 1-0 scoreline holds up.
