Mike Sadler, the Michigan State Punter, is a Speedo-Wearing Potential Rhodes Scholar

Pat Narduzzi, Michigan State’s defensive coordinator, has been nominated for the Broyles Award as college football’s top assistant coach. On Monday night, Michigan State punter Mike Sadler offered to buy Narduzzi a speedo if he won so they could both wear the matching outfits in Pasadena when they make their trip to the Rose Bowl.

I thought embedding that tweet would have been enough, but one quick Google search later, I learned there was much more to this story than I ever wanted to know. Sadler, who averaged 42.3 yards per punt this season, might be the most interesting punter in America. Sadler is an Academic All-American who graduated with a degree in engineering in three years who is also working on a PhD in economics and is a potential Rhodes Scholar.

As for the speedo? In March, Sadler filled Narduzzi’s office with these disturbing images posted below. Coincidentally, Sadler was named one of Seventeen Magazine’s hottest college football players in September. Now we wait to find out if Narduzzi wins the Broyles award to see if he and Sadler recreate these photos on a beach in California.
