Russell Westbrook had “minor”surgery on his knee and will be out until after the NBA All-Star Game in February, reports Thunder beat writer Darnell Mayberry. Westbrook injured his knee┬áin April and missed most of last season’s playoffs. He returned to the lineup ahead of schedule this season, missing only the first two games of the 2013-14 season. Westbrook was averaging 21.3 points this season on 39 percent shooting.

The Thunder are only half a game off the Blazers for the best record in the Western Conference. The injury to Westbrook — his third knee surgery in ninth months — should open the door for Portland, or even San Antonio to grab the conference’s No. 1 seed for the playoffs.
