Yasiel Puig must be a fan of Sammy Hagar, because the Dodgers star outfielder can’t drive 55. (Sorry) Puig has twice been arrested for reckless driving in the last eight months. The second arrest, which took place in late December in Florida with the Dodgers outfielder clocked at 110 mph, produced an interesting arrest video that included Puig rocking really tight pink shorts.
Thursday Dodgers vice president Stan Kasten told ESPN LA 710 that Puig has since hired a cousin to drive him, lest history repeat itself. The pullquote from Kasten doesn’t make it sound like the executive is overwhelmingly thrilled:
“I give him credit for taking that step if nothing else,” Kasten said.
This yet unnamed cousin automatically vaults atop the cousin power rankings, blowing past the infamous “Cousin Yuri,” and a couple of the Crowe cousins of “Justified” fame in the process. Cousin Larry Appleton, meanwhile, said he was happy about Puig’s choice and wished his cousin well. (“Cousin Sal,” as of this writing, could not be reached for comment.)
Since we’re on the topic of Puig, it’ll be fun to see which person in your fantasy baseball league takes him in the first round based off last year’s 382 at bats which produced a .925 OPS. Call it a high risk, high reward scenario.
