With 2.8 seconds remaining in Tuesday night’s high school basketball game between Heights and Southeast in Wichita, Kansas, Semaj Hervey went to the line with his team down one. Hervey made the first free throw to knot the game at 62. The second free throw missed and headed towards the sideline. Ealy Bell – the only Heights player on the lane – tracked the ball down, wrestled it away from a Southeast player, turned and banked in a three-pointer at the buzzer as he fell out of bounds.
Not to criticize high school players or coaches, but that was the worst job of boxing out on a free throw that I have ever seen. Still, good hustle Ealy. You earned that buzzer-beater. (Speaking of criticism … If this isn’t the lowest quality, non-Vine buzzer-beater I ever post, I will be shocked.)
