While some in Cleveland have been clamoring for the Browns to interview Jim Tressel for their hilariously-still-vacant head coaching job, it appears as though the former Ohio State coach could be joining his old Indy co-worker Jim Caldwell in Detroit. Per Pat McManamon at ESPN:
One person close to Tressel even said a deal to bring him to Detroit has been agreed to, pending approval of the front office. That has not been confirmed by the Lions or Tressel, though. Caldwell will be introduced to the Lions media Wednesday afternoon.
This report is clearly still preliminary, but if front office approval is indeed the only impediment then this move could happen sooner than later. Lions president and University of Michigan grad Tom Lewand would seemingly allow to Caldwell to bring Tressel aboard if he so desired.“If it helps us win, I will tattoo a Buckeye on my forehead,” said Lewand, via the Detroit Free Press.
