David Moyes rocky start as manager of Manchester United hit another bump in the road Sunday at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. The defending Premier League champions were defeated 3-1 by Jose Mourinho’s Blues thanks to a hat trick from Samuel Eto’o. It got even worse for United in stoppage time when captain Nemanja Vidic was sent off with a straight red card following a two-legged “tackle” on Eden Hazard. United remain in seventh place, 14 points off the pace of first-place Arsenal.
The funny thing is, while #MoyesOut might be a clever hashtag on Twitter, more and more opposing fans want the embattled Scot to stay on the touchline for Manchester United forever. Chelsea fans cleverly trolled Moyes singing, “David Moyes, David Moyes we want you to staaaaaaay” on Sunday. (Read the guy wearing glasses’ lips since we had some issues trying to isolate the audio.)
History says one day — sooner or later — United will return to the glory they experienced under Sir Alex Ferguson. For now, everyone’s who’s hated the Red Devils and their uncanny ability to win trophies the last three decades is having loads of fun kicking them while they’re down.
Oh right, the win meant Chelsea kept pace with Arsenal as the Blues remain two points off the pace.
