Phil Mickelson Hits Shot Righty, Ends Up Costing Him a Tournament

Phil Mickelson cost himself a chance to win the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship with a terrible shot on the par four 13th hole. Trying to hit a ball that was lodged under some trees, the man known as Lefty tried to hit righty. It didn’t go too well, as the ball struck his club twice — counting for two strokes — on his way to a triple bogey. The ball, as you can see, traveled all of about two feet. Well done, Phil, well done.

Mickelson lost the tournament by one stroke to Pablo Larrazabal.

It’s not all bad for Mickelson, he still pocketed $230,000 for placing in second.
