Indiana Bars Busted for Gambling on the Super Bowl, $93,000 Seized

The AP and Indianapolis Star are reporting that four Indiana bars or clubs were cited for gambling infractions related to the Super Bowl, and that $93,000 was seized. There aren’t too many available details as of yet, so we really don’t know if these were relatively standard Super Bowl betting modules or if some or all of them regularly run gambling operations.

Given that one of the offending establishments — a Moose Lodge in western Indiana — had just $745 seized, one figures that at least some of these charges were trumped up by overzealous law enforcement. Organizing a Super Bowl squares pool is a victimless crime.
