Vladislav Tretiak and Irina Rodnina had the honor of lighting the Olympic Flame for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. Tretiak, who won three gold medals (and one silver! U-S-A! U-S-A!) for the Soviet Union, is considered one of the greatest goalies in hockey history. Rodnina won three gold medals in figure skating. Alina Kabayeva, Vladimir Putin’s rumored girlfriend, and Maria Sharapova were among the Russians who carried the torch in the final moments of the ceremony.
