Oregon assistant basketball coach Brian Fish says he and an athletic trainer were spit on by an Arizona State student during Saturday night’s loss in Tempe. Due to the configuartion of Arizona State’s Wells Fargo Arena, the visiting players must walk through the student section to reach the locker room.
Fish consulted with security after the game but declined to press charges, telling The Oregonian:
“I didn’t want any charges, just for him to be scared (witless),” Fish said. “We all deserve second chances, he’s a college kid. But that was completely uncalled for.”
Nice job by Fish taking the high road here but college fans certainly could show a little more decorum. Spitting is going over the line. The offending fan reportedly had his season tickets revoked.
