Kolo Toure Delivered a Contender for Worst Own Goal of 2014 During the Liverpool/Fulham Match
By Mike Cardillo
Kolo Toure is doing his best to try to sabotage Liverpool’s quest to return to the Champions League. Earlier this month an errant pass from the Ivorian defender gifted West Brom a goal in an eventual 1-1 draw. Wednesday afternoon Toure might have topped himself with this woeful own-goal in Liverpool’s match with Fulham.
This one was so bad I’ll hold back on the snark and leave it for NBCSN’s Robbie Earl. If Fulham avoid relegation by one or two points the club ought to send Toure a very nice gold watch or something of equal value in May.
UPDATE: Liverpool won 3-2 thanks to a stoppage time Steven Gerrard penalty, saving Toure the blushes. The penalty was the result of a clear foul from Sascha Riether on Daniel Sturridge.
Liverpool is now only four points behind first-place Chelsea. This title race will be fascinating.
