Rey Trujillo fought Cosmo Alexandre at Legacy Fighting Championship 28 in Arlington, Texas on Friday night. Alexandre, who won his five previous fights in Bellator, landed a vicious knee to Trujillo’s face and knocked him out 3:38 into the 1st round. To add injury to injury, the referee steps on the back of Trujillo’s head while he’s pushing Alexandre off his lifeless body. Knocked out. Beaten. Stepped on. Romance was in the air. So Trujillo took the opportunity to propose to his girlfriend. She said yes.

Now, this obviously isn’t the first time we’ve seen an athlete propose after his sporting contest concludes. In the MMA world we’ve seen a guy put his girlfriend in a triangle choke to propose and even seen a UFC champion propose after a title defense on national television. However… I can’t recall seeing anyone propose after a loss. This is especially noteworthy when you consider the fact that Trujillo just suffered a brain trauma moments before popping the question.
