Jeremy Liggins signed with Ole Miss and is listed at 6’3″ 296 pounds. Though recruiting sites listed him as an athlete with a possible future at defensive end, it appears Hugh Freeze will give him a shot at quarterback. Liggins, originally an LSU signee in 2012, played both quarterback and defensive end at Northeast Mississippi C.C. last season.
The natural comparison is former Kentucky quarterback Jared Lorenzen, who was listed at 6’4″ 275 lbs. Lorenzen has packed on a few since, ballooning up to 320 lbs. Though his mobility was unimpeded until he suffered an injury that required him to be carried from the field.
Ole Miss is a bit thin behind incumbent starter Bo Wallace. Both the second and third-string quarterbacks in 2013 were seniors who graduated. Liggins can purportedly throw it “70 to 75” yards. We can only hope there’s a place for him behind center. Few sights are more thrilling than a fat man toting a football.
