DeMarcus Ware, one of the best pass rushers in the NFL over the last decade, has been released by the Dallas Cowboys. Quite a start to free agency, huh? Ware was the 11th overall pick in 2005, and has done nothing but produce: 117 sacks in nine seasons. He’s only missed three games in his career.
But Ware turns 32 in July, and as we’re about to learn in free agency under the new CBA: If you’re a veteran taking up a large chunk of the cap room on the roster, you become expendable.
