Lorde Was Given a Kansas City Royals Jersey, Looked Elated

Music sensation Lorde was in the Kansas City area on Friday as part of her concert tour. The Royals took the opportunity to thank her for all she’s done for the organization.

If you’re not up on your Lorde trivia, the New Zealand native confirmed her Royals, which was named Song of the Year at the Grammy Awards, was inspired by a 1976 edition of National Geographic with George Brett on the cover.

Lorde told VH1 earlier this year: “I had this image from the National Geographic of this dude just signing baseballs. He was a baseball player and his shirt said ‘Royals.’

It’s truly a shame Brett couldn’t be there in person to regale her with one of his stories. That dude can really spin a yarn.
