Bartolo Colon put the bat on the ball and the bat lost during the Mets 5-1 loss to the Washington Nationals on Wednesday. Colon grounded out to 2nd in the bottom of the 3rd on the play. Sure, it was an out, but it was a spectacular out. Look at him fly. And notice how much he enjoys stretching his legs?

In the 5th, Colon struck out when he bunted foul with two strikes.

Before doing so, he made sure to give each pitch a close look.

A very close look.

Except for 17 appearances with the Expos in 2002, Bartolo Colon has spent his entire career in the American League so he only had 104 career plate appearances coming into this season with an OBP of .110. Now in his 17th season, Colon is with the Mets and will be asked to bat every fifth day or so. The results should be equally amazing at the plate and on the mound.
