Dorial Green-Beckham, who was the top-rated receiver coming out of high school two years ago, has been dismissed from the University of Missouri football team. He avoided criminal charges, at least for now, when the victim claimed to not want to pursue it to avoid public backlash because of Green-Beckham’s position. However, there were plenty of troubling details in regard to what happened last week.
The Missouri program did what had to be done, and apparently isn’t as worried about a public groundswell of support for Green-Beckham merely because he is an athlete. It wouldn’t surprise me if the legal situation changes as well.
Green-Beckham is not eligible for the supplemental draft because he is not at least three years past his high school class, so if he is going to play next year, it will be elsewhere, in college, possibly at a FCS school, assuming the legal situation allows it.
