Delino DeShields Jr. Hit in the Face With 90MPH Fastball

delino-deshields-jr-faceDelino DeShields Jr., the son of former MLB player Delino DeShields, is with the double-A Corpus Cristi Hooks this season. During a game on Friday, the 21-year old Astros prospect took a 90mph fastball to the right side of his face. DeShields Jr. amazingly walked off the field and later took this picture from the hospital. According to one site, DeShields broke a bone in his cheek which looks about right.

Update: The picture above was tweeted by DeShields this afternoon. Good to see he’s in good spirits.
