Samir Nasri is a vital player for Premier League Champions Manchester City. But that was not enough to get him selected for the French national team. Didier Deschamps left him off the 23-man Les Blues squad for Brazil. His girlfriend, model Anara Atanes, vented some frustration about the snub on Twitter.
His ability is without question. But, given his track record with France, his absence is not surprising. Nasri was labeled “insolent” by veteran members of France’s Euro 2008 squad. He missed out on the 2010 World Cup mutiny. Though at Euro 2012, he was banned for three matches, after swearing at a reporter who tried to interview him following France’s 2-0 loss to Spain.
