J.T. Granato, of Kinkaid (Houston, Texas) had multiple schools to choose between after throwing for 3394 yards and 42 touchdowns as a senior. Rice and the University of Houston offered him scholarships while Maryland, Indiana, Southern Miss and Wake Forest had also shown interest. However, only one of those schools wrote a letter to “Kitty Granato.” Via My FOX Houston:
Inside the letter was a note to J.T.’s cat, White Sox, that said “please help us to get J.T. to choose Rice.
“Paw me in case you have any questions.”
Considering they didn’t even know his cat’s name and they used an extremely unimaginative pun, I have to assume he had a good campus visit or was told he could start as a freshman.
