Evan Reed, a relief pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, is being investigated for sexual assault. The alleged incident took place in Detroit the night before Opening Day.
The 45-year-old woman claimed she met Reed in a Royal Oak bar March 30 — the day before the Tigers opened the season — and that she woke up hours later in a MotorCity Casino hotel room, where she was sexually assaulted.
“A thorough review of all of the evidence must be conducted before a decision can be made,” Miller said. “A charging decision is not expected this week. No further information about the case will be released until a charging decision is made.”
Reed is cooperating with police and has provided “witness statements, a test result, and a supplemental witness statement which details the alleged complainant’s actions after the incident.” The report was originally filed two days after the alleged incident.
