Bobby Zamora took advantage of an awful clearance attempt by Richard Keogh in the 89th minute of Saturday’s English Championship promotion playoff, giving 10-man QPR a 1-0 win over Derby County and an immediate return to the Premier League. Deloitte estimates the goal is worth up to $135 million for QPR — a team with a higher payroll than Champions League finalist Atletico Madrid, thanks to the wheeling and dealing of manager Harry Redknapp.
The goal meant a lot of screaming and cracked voices during the BBC Radio call via @geedub28.
As a result QPR, Leicester City and Burnley replace relegated Norwich City, Cardiff City and Fulham in the Premier League when it resumes in August.
Zamora is not stranger to playoff heroics, helping West Ham win promotion with a key goal in 2005.
