Ryan Hunter-Reay became the first American to win the Indianapolis 500 since 2006 by passing Helio Castroneves late and hanging on for .3171-second margin of victory. It was the second-closest finish in the race’s history.

Hunter-Reay called himself “a proud American boy” in Victory Lane, where he appeared wearing the exact same thing as his son, Ryden.

While the elder Hunter-Reay enjoyed the post-victory spoils of the traditional milk chug, the younger Hunter Reay wasn’t having any of it.

Smart kid.
