Haris Seferovic made a fantastic run into the box and finished with 20 seconds remaining in stoppage time to give Switzerland a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Ecuador. The goal capped a wild sequence where Ecuador had a chance on the other end, only for it to be stopped by a last-second slide tackle by Valon Behrami.
Behrami won the ball off the tackle in and dribbled up field where he was quickly laid out by a Ecuador defender. Instead of writhing on the ground in pain, Behrami popped back up to keep the Swiss attack going forward. Credit referee Ravshan Irmatov for calling advantage and allowing the action continue.
Switzerland’s win continued an earlier trend of comeback wins at the 2014 World Cup.
