France and Honduras played a fairly forgettable first 45 minutes Sunday in their Group E opener. The “highlights” of the half are a pair of confrontations between Wilson Palacios and Paul Pogba. The first ugly-looking incident resulted in each player receiving a yellow card.
Before halftime the pair were at it again, this time in the penalty area.
Both players were fortunate to stay on the field following the first challenge. Palacios wasn’t so lucky the second time, receiving a second yellow for shoving the Frenchman in the back. It resulted in a red card and a penalty kick, converted by Karim Benzema to put Les Bleus ahead 1-0.
Honduras coach Luis Fernando Suárez wasn’t too happy with the development, as if he just received a punch in the eye.
I have no idea how popular Phish is inside Honduras, but I’m guessing there are plenty inside the country laying their hate on Wilson right now.
