Andrew Wiggins, to the surprise of few, was taken 1st overall in the 2014 NBA draft by the Cavaliers. Wiggins had a strong freshman year at Kansas – averaging 17 ppg, 6 rpg – and was brilliant when center Joel Embiid went down with a back injury (averaging 20 ppg in seven games). I’ve had Wiggins atop my draft board since last June, and never wavered.

Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, Andrew Wiggins, Tristian Thompson and Anderson Varejao? That’s not bad at all (in the East). It’s going to take some time, but I believe Wiggins will be an elite player in the NBA.

Wiggins is Cleveland’s 3rd No. 1 pick in the draft in the last three years (Kyrie Irving in 2011, Anthony Bennett in 2013).
