Netherlands Can't Score in Wild Final Sequence, Costa Rica Forces Extra Time

The Netherlands had roughly eight great chances on this sequence in stoppage time to score the winning goal vs. Costa Rica. The ball fell to Robin van Persie, only for the Manchester United star to scuff it into the post. Costa Rica, the CONCACAF darlings, live for at least another 30 minutes.
Historically, extra time has not been kind to the Dutch:
