Aroldis Chapman threw a consecutive 100 mph+ high and tight pitches to Nate Schierholtz during an at bat in the ninth inning Thursday afternoon in Cincinnati. Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo took exception from the dugout, yelling at Chapman. Rizzo continued his outburst as he went to man his position at first in the bottom half of the inning. The benches eventually cleared.
I don’t know what the exact term to describe it would be because no matter what I write someone will take issue with it and clarify with their own personal perferred term for the on-field baseball confrontation. At the very least we can agree it was not a fight or a brawl. Tempers did however, flare.
