Intoxicated Fan Rushes Mound at Minor League Game, Gets Shoved to the Ground

The grainy video above takes place in Corpus Christi Tx., home of the Hooks, a Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. A passionate, and presumably wasted, Hooks fan was irate when first baseman Telvin Nash was plunked by Midland RockHounds pitcher Blake Hassebrock.

“My first thought was I just hoped he didn’t have a gun or something weird,” said Hassebrock in the Corpus Christi Caller Times. “If he’s crazy enough to be on the field, who knows what he had on him. By the time he got to me, he stopped and it looked like he came to and regretted being out there in the first place. We didn’t (make contact). This was something out of ‘Eastbound and Down.’ (What he said) was pretty much inaudible, drunken gibberish. (There was) a couple of f-bombs and some slurring. I’m pretty sure he was upset I hit Nash.”

Luckily, Hassebrock’s teammate, shortstop Dusty Coleman (all of these names are perfect for minor league ballplayers, no?), shoved the unidentified fan to the ground before the incident turned ugly. RockHounds stick together.
