Rutgers Hails Itself As "The Birthplace of College Football" On Media Guide
By Ty Duffy
This one will get the legions of New York-based fans fired up. Rutgers’ imperious new media guide cover hails itself as “the birthplace of college football.” That’s technically true, in the way that someone from Cleveland first uttered the phrase “Rock N’Roll.”
The actual game the Rutgers Queensmen played vs. the College of New Jersey (Princeton) that ended 6-4 resembled “futbol” more than modern “football.” But we’ll give them an “A” for ambition, unlike Purdue, who changed one character from last year’s on a MS Word document and opted for a slightly different shade of paper.
