Ryan Malone was arrested for driving under the influence in April. Malone, who played for the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning last year, was also charged with cocaine possession after an officer found 1.3 grams of the drug in Malone’s pocket. This apparently came as a shock to Malone. From the Tampa Bay Times:
Malone told Visser he didn’t believe the officer planted the drugs on him, according to the documents, but he was “baffled” because he was wearing the same jeans for three days.
“I asked where it came from,” Visser wrote in his report. “And he said he was just shocked.”
That’s impressive. Complete denial and he was smart enough not to accuse the officer of planting the coke.
Malone is currently an unrestricted free agent.
