Rebecca Lowe Showed Off Her Really, Totally Awesome American Accent on the Dan Patrick Show
By Mike Cardillo
The 2014-15 Barclay’s Premier League (EPL) kicks off Saturday morning. To help promote its coverage, NBCSN standout studio host Rebecca Lowe was a guest on Dan Patrick’s show Friday morning and gave listeners/viewers a sampling of her American “Valley Girl” accent, which Patrick first discovered during their work together at the Socchi Olympics. It took a little nudging from Patrick, but Lowe was an ahem jolly good sport about it.
Light bulb! If NBC really wanted to go for it with a viral-worthy clip, they’d have had Lowe use her American accent to interview Ted Lasso.
Jokes aside, Lowe is an excellent studio host regardless of her accent and a big part of the reason NBCSN’s first season with the EPL rights in America was such a success, clicking right away with viewers. NBCSN’s approach to the Premier League was fairly simple: show the games, show the highlights and offer up some reasoned analysis, reminding us once again sports television production shouldn’t be that difficult.
