The Associated Press has released its preseason college football poll. Fun to discuss. Not fun when it sets an unfair framework for college football’s subjective, figure-skating-like method of choosing teams to be eligible to play for a national title. Be sure to tell individual voters how you really feel over social media. They love it.
1. Florida State
5. Ohio State
8. Michigan State
9. South Carolina
17. Notre Dame
18. Ole Miss
19. Arizona State
20. Kansas State
21. Texas A&M
23. North Carolina
There’s not much to quibble about, since nothing has happened yet. Florida State and Alabama are the consensus front-runners. There’s maybe a second tier with Oregon, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Auburn. Teams 7-14 are basically interchangeable. So are teams 15-25.
