Demba Ba came within inches of scoring one of the most audacious goals in UEFA Champions League history, catching Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny off his line right after the opening kickoff in Tuesday’s playoff in Istanbul. The Beşiktaş striker came close, but not quite close enough. That’s still an impressive effort form a player deemed surplus to requirements by Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
Quite a character.
