Yasiel Puig Ran Into His Second Triple Play of the Season, Dodgers Fans Express Displeasure
By Mike Cardillo
What if I told you Dodgers star Yasiel Puig’s aggressive base-running is partly responsible for the last two triple plays in baseball? Puig made the final out at second base when Cleveland turned a triple play vs. Los Angeles in July. On Sunday, the Dodgers ran their way into another triple play, this time against the Mets. Puig made the third out at the plate when he tried to score from second … with his team down by five runs. As Sports Illustrated noted, Puig leads the majors in outs made on the basepaths with 13.
The Dodger Films YouTube account captured both triple plays and uploaded them to compare. Make sure to watch for the one fan in the video unhappy with Puig’s decision making. Of course, Puig is the same player who earlier this year channeled Peter Parker to score a highlight-reel run at the plate, so I suppose fans have to take the good with the bad.
