Pam Oliver, the longtime NFL sideline reporter for Fox Sports, is still working at the network, is still going to be on TV every Sunday, and she’s still going to talk to football players and coaches. The only difference? She’s going to be with the “B” team, instead of the “A” team (Joe Buck and Troy Aikman). Oliver is a pro, good at her job, and also 53-years old. Fox wanted to get younger on the sideline, so it promoted Erin Andrews (36) to the “A” team.

Oliver spoke to Essence Magazine about the jarring change:

"“Do you think it had something to do with your race?” No. I definitely do not. Others asked, “Does it have something to do with your age?” Well, maybe. The business is very demographic-oriented. As one executive said to me, Fox Sports will look radically different in the coming years. I assume that means they want to look younger. It’s not difficult to notice that the new on-air people there are all young, blond and “hot.”"

We’ve addressed Fox’s affinity for blondes before.
