Texas A&M – Commerce kicked off its season on Thursday night with a 98-20 win over East Texas Baptist. The win was fairly historic as A&M – Commerce gained an NCAA Division II record 986 yards. Their 98 points were just eight points shy of the D2 record of 106 points Fort Valley State scored against Knoxville in 1969.

On the ground, Joe Bergeron rushed for 137 yards, Richard Cooper had 118 yards, and Theo Wofford had 103 yards on nine carries. Each back scored twice. [via Lions Athletics]
