Penn State is Bowl Eligible For 2014, According to the NCAA
By Ty Duffy
Finally, some good news for the Big Ten this week. The NCAA has restored Penn State Football’s bowl eligibility for 2014, after back tracking on the initial Draconian sanctions. The program will also get its full allotment of scholarships back for the 2015-16 season. Apparently, the school did well enough not shielding serial child sex abusers the past couple years to satisfy the NCAA.
There may have been an argument for putting the sport on hiatus for a few years at Penn State, given the gravity of what happened with the Sandusky scandal. (That may have happened had it not been football or men’s basketball) But, it was never clear what going half way and making Penn State not as good at football was meant to accomplish.
Penn State may not be a factor in the B1G race this year. But, James Franklin will now be going after all your recruits.
