Jeff Wilpon might be in a little bit of trouble, if the allegations in a lawsuit filed today are true. According to the New York Daily News, Leigh Castergine, formerly senior vice president of ticket sales, filed a federal lawsuit against Wilpon and the Mets over her treatment after becoming pregnant in September 2013.

Castergine was not married, and Wilpon allegedly had problems with that, and wasn’t afraid to let those problems be known. According to the suit, ” Wilpon allegedly made a crack to Castergine, who was hired in 2010, that she should tell her boyfriend that when she gets an engagement ring she will make more money.”

Also, during an ad meeting, he allegedly said “he was as opposed to e-cigarette ads in CitiField “as I am to Leigh having this baby without being married.”

In a move that would qualify as a “how-not-to” in human resources if true, the suit also alleges that when she complained to HR, she was told to quit. When she was terminated last month, she refused a severance package that was conditional on her not bringing legal action against the Mets.

The good news? Someone with ties to the Mets organization may be about to make more money than Bobby Bonilla.
