Five NFL Picks Against the Spread: Another Sunday for Underdogs?

Las Vegas dominated the first weekend of the NFL season, which means if you weren’t playing underdogs (10-6!), you got slaughtered. That was the case for CineSport’s Noah Coslov and myself, as we went 0-5 and 2-3, respectively. Adjustments coming!

Picking five NFL games against the spread each week will get in your head. You can read all the trends you want, and try to see where the money is going, but finishing .500 for an entire season is much more difficult than you think.

So what’s the move this week – do you just go with underdogs again (this is the ‘year of the underdog’ after all) or do you think that no team is as good or bad as the previous week, and the script is flipped in Week 2, with favorites dominating?

Take the Cardinals and the Giants. Both teams are on a short week, and Arizona is coming East for a 1 pm game. It hasn’t been the favorite in New York against the Giants in 20 years, but the Cardinals are favored by 2.5 Sunday. That’s probably only because Arizona beat a 2013 playoff team, San Diego, while the Giants were whipped on Monday Night Football by the Lions.

Where do you think we went?

Come for the picks and free money; stay for Noah’s comment about the color-coded bookshelf. Yes, he reads the comments.
