Kansas State Accused Auburn of Stealing Signals

Kansas State changed their offensive signals at half-time against Auburn, after coach Bill Snyder accused the Tigers of stealing them. Auburn was notably accused of doing that during last year’s BCS title game. Once Florida State began covering their play calls with towels, they mounted a major comeback from a 21-3 deficit.

The point of signals is to mask what you are doing. Failure to do so is your own fault. While Auburn may have been stealing signals, their duplicity had nothing to do with balls bouncing off receivers chests in the end zone and botched snaps on field goals. Kansas State did not play noticeably better on offense during the second half. They lost, despite an impressive defensive performance, because five trips inside the Auburn 40-yard line failed to result in points.
